This illustration was for Threadwars, a competitive design challenge on the Threadless forums. The theme for the challenge was “Mythology.” Instead of simply looking to Greek or Roman mythology, I looked at Eastern sources for inspiration as well. The design pits East vs. West in a cultural clash of the titans.

The minotaur was inspired by ancient Greek pottery designs. The tengu was inspired by antique Japanese brush paintings.
